PIONEERING REAL ESTATE AGENCY SIMONE SONG PROPERTIES “CELEBRATES HUDSON HEIGHTS” ON DEC. 11
Local businesses, community groups and residents to mark 25 years of transforming a Northern Manhattan neighborhood
NEW YORK – November 30, 2011 – Simone Song Properties at 241 Cabrini Boulevard and 187th Street, one of the first real estate firms to establish a local presence selling apartments in the distinctly diverse area known as Hudson Heights, will celebrate 25 years of transforming the Northern Manhattan landscape with “Celebrating Hudson Heights” on December 11. The all-day anniversary event, hosted by Simone Song Properties, in collaboration with Friends of PS/IS 187 and with support from area businesses, will raise funds for PS/IS 187, the neighborhood’s destination school. This event will be at the Hudson View Gardens Lounge at 128 Pinehurst Avenue; it is open to the public with the purchase of admission.
“Hudson Heights has evolved dramatically over the past 25 years,” said Simone Song, principal at Simone Song Properties. “It’s a truly vibrant community that’s now known for its richly diverse population. I’m delighted to celebrate with other area businesses and community partners who’ve played an essential part in creating today’s Hudson Heights.”
Simone Song began selling co-op and condominium apartments in 1985, from her downtown law office. In 1986, she signed the lease at 241 Cabrini Blvd., and has been at the same site ever since. Once a simple residential area with limited commercial offerings, the area now bustles with restaurants, bars and specialty shops. Many residents who live in Hudson Heights today are creative professionals who make the easy commute to the midtown theater district, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and beyond; still, the neighborhood is home to people from all walks of life. The area, with its multiple green spaces and spacious apartments, has been discovered by families as an attractive alternative to moving out of Manhattan.
When Simone Song opened her real estate office in 1986, she focused on residential sales in the Northern Manhattan areas of Washington Heights, Inwood and the northwestern part of Washington Heights,Hudson Heights, an area where few real estate brokers were willing to create a local presence. Ms. Song independently secured listings on the most desirable residential streets in the neighborhood and brokered sales to people mostly fleeing the higher “downtown” prices.
The 11 sales and rental agents at Simone Song Properties all live in Hudson Heights / Inwood, and are well-equipped to provide potential buyers and renters with firsthand knowledge of the neighborhood and its many offerings. Simone Song Properties is an active broker in nearly every building in the neighborhood, including the historic Hudson View Gardens & Castle Village.
